Science Europe Contribution to ESOF 2022

At ESOF 2022 (13–16 July, Leiden, the Netherlands), Science Europe representatives will participate in four sessions. Besides, Sciences Europe is co-organising the Presidents’ reception with EuroScience. The programme also features a number of Science Europe Member Organisations.

The Presidents’ reception will be held on 13 July for the Presidents of the various organisations participating in ESOF. More information will be made available soon to those invited. 

The sessions in which Science Europe will participate are: 

  • “Research assessment reform - what does good look like?” in the framework of ESOF 2022 theme 7: "Sustainable Academic Careers". Dr. Lidia Borrell-Damián will be one of the speakers  (14 July, 14h00-15h15 CEST).
  • “The Rights Retention Strategy: Academic freedom and responsibility for researchers” in the framework of Theme 5 of ESOF 2022: “Freedom and responsibility of science”. Dr. Lidia Borrell-Damián will be the moderator  (14 July, 15h45-17h00 CEST).
  • “How do research organisations foster a broader range of roles in research?” in the framework of Theme 7 of the ESOF 2022 programme: "Sustainable Academic Careers". Dr. James Morris will be one of the speakers (15 July, 11h15- 12h30 CEST).
  • “Engaging Researchers in the Net-Zero Transition” in the framework of Theme 1 of the ESOF 2022 programme: "A sustainable environment". Dr. Nicola Francesco Dotti will be the moderator (15 July, 17h15-18h30 CEST).

A number of Science Europe Member Organisations are also in the programme, namely:

  • “A Sustainable Future with Sustainable Plastics” in the framework of Theme 1 of the ESOF 2022 programme: "A sustainable environment". Gary James Ellis (CSIC) will be a speaker (13 July, 11h00-12h30 CEST).
  • “The Role Of Team Science For A More Inclusive And Interdisciplinary European Research Area” in the framework of Theme 7 of the ESOF 2022 programme: "Sustainable Academic Careers". Arian Steenbruggen (NWO) will be a speaker (14 July, 8h00-9h15 CEST).
  • “Creating Research Environments that Foster Mental Health and Wellbeing” in the framework of Theme 4 of the ESOF 2022 programme: “Healthy societies”. Neda Bebiroglu (FNRS) will be a speaker (14 July, 11h15-12h30).
  • “Reforming Academic Assessment: The Impact on Early-Stage Researchers and Their Careers” in the framework of Theme 7 of the ESOF 2022 programme: "Sustainable Academic Careers". Neda Bebiroglu (F.R.S.-FNRS) will be a speaker /(14 July, 14h00-15h15 CEST).
  • “How Do Research Organizations Foster A Broader Range Of Roles In Research?” in the framework of Theme 7 of the ESOF 2022 programme: "Sustainable Academic Careers". Sean Sapcariu (FNR) will be a speaker (15 July, 11h15 to 12h30 CEST).
