Former SE Governing Board Member and Scientific Advisor Appointed to ERC Scientific Council

On 1 March, the European Commission appointed three eminent scientists as new members of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council (ERC): Professor Chryssa Kouveliotou, Professor László Lovász, and Professor Giovanni Sartor. They are appointed for an initial period of four years.

Both Professor Lovász and Professor Sartor have worked with Science Europe in the past and contributed greatly to its activities. Science Europe warmly congratulates all three new appointees to the Scientific Council and looks forward to continue working with them in the future.

Professor László Lovász was the head of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and is a former SE Governing Board Member. He is professor emeritus at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, and Research Professor at the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics.

Professor Giovanni Sartor is professor at the University of Bologna and at the European University Institute, Florence, Italy. He served on both Science Europe’s Scientific Committee for the Social Sciences, as well as on its successor, the Scientific Advisory Committee.
